What Backlog Quest does

Turn a list of unfinished games into one random quest with a chosen mood, time budget, deadline, and a card you can download or share. The browser tool is free, needs no account, and never asks for a Steam login.

Backlog Quest is a small decision tool for players who have already bought or collected more games than they can comfortably choose between. Instead of recommending a new purchase, it works only with the titles the player enters. The player pastes three to twelve game names, selects the time available, chooses a mood, and sets a deadline. The browser then picks one title at random and turns it into a compact quest with a shareable card. The core experience is meant to replace another evening of scrolling with one concrete start. Players can download the card, share a challenge link, or reroll if they genuinely need another choice. No Steam login, store connection, or account is required. The random choice happens on the device. Shared links contain the game names and quest settings chosen by the player, so the interface warns people not to enter personal information. Backlog Quest differs from a plain game roulette by attaching a time box, deadline, and social commitment to the result. It is intentionally lightweight: there is no automatic library import, multiplayer matchmaking, or recommendation algorithm. The current product is a public experimental MVP and its core randomizer is free. It also contains a transparent willingness-to-pay test for a possible 30-day season pack with extra themes and a printable progress map at 149 RUB, roughly two US dollars. That offer is only a demand test. Checkout is not connected, no order is created, and the site does not collect card details or take payment.

Best for

Players with an unfinished game backlog who want one clear next game and a short, concrete commitment.

Not for

People looking for automatic Steam library syncing, multiplayer matchmaking, or a checkout-enabled paid product.

Questions, answered by the maker

What does it do?

It randomly turns three to twelve game titles from your own backlog into one time-boxed quest with a deadline and a downloadable or shareable card.

Who is it for?

It is for players who already have unfinished games and want one clear next choice instead of browsing their library again.

How much does it cost, and is there a free plan?

The working browser randomizer is free and needs no account. The 149 RUB season pack shown on the site is only a willingness-to-pay test; checkout is not connected.

Where is my data stored, and can I export or delete it?

Quest generation happens in the browser. Shared links contain the game names and settings you choose, so do not enter personal data. You can reset local counters from the footer, and the privacy page explains anonymous aggregate analytics.

How do I get started?

Open the web app, enter three to twelve game titles, choose your available time, mood, and deadline, then press Pick my quest.
