What Hoppscotch does
Hoppscotch is an open-source API client for building, testing, and sharing APIs. It supports REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, and other protocols, runs on the web, desktop, and CLI, and can be self-hosted or used in the cloud.
Hoppscotch is an API development platform. You compose a request with parameters, body, headers, and authorization, send it, and inspect the response. Requests are organized into collections and folders, environment variables can be reused everywhere, and a history keeps track of what you have sent. Pre-request scripts can modify headers, authenticate requests, or generate data, and post-request tests let you write assertions against the response.
The client covers more than REST. It supports GraphQL, WebSocket, Socket.IO, MQTT, Server-Sent Events, and other realtime protocols. You can generate code snippets for a request in many languages, share requests with your team or publicly, and import from Postman, Insomnia, or cURL with one click. Proxy and interceptor options help work around CORS and debug requests.
Hoppscotch runs as a web app and as desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux, and a command-line interface runs your collections from the terminal for automated workflows. Cloud sync keeps data in step across devices. The interface is available in more than 30 languages, and data storage is local-first, with no tracking, analytics, or ads.
The project is open source on GitHub, and you can self-host it on your own servers. It is developed by Hoppscotch Limited. The free plan includes REST, GraphQL, and realtime API testing, a personal workspace, collections, environments, scripts and tests, and a collection runner.
Paid cloud plans add team features. The Business plan costs $6 per user per month billed annually and adds team workspaces with real-time collaboration, shared collections, API documentation publishing, API mocking, MCP server support, and an admin dashboard. The Enterprise plan costs $11 per user per month billed annually and adds role-based access, SAML SSO and OpenID Connect, SCIM provisioning, AI agent features, and audit logs.
Best for
Developers and API teams who want a fast, open-source API client they can use alone, share with a team, or self-host.
Not for
Non-technical users, and teams that only need a load-testing or API gateway product rather than an interactive client.
