What IT Tools does

IT Tools is a free, open-source web app that collects dozens of small utilities for developers and IT staff, such as converters, generators, encoders, and network calculators, in one searchable interface.

IT Tools is a collection of small, focused utilities for developers and people who work in IT. Instead of searching the web for a separate site every time you need to decode a JWT or convert a timestamp, you open one web app, search for the tool, and use it in the same interface.

The GitHub repository contains more than 80 tools. Crypto tools include a token generator, hash text, bcrypt, HMAC generator, RSA key pair generator, and text encryption. Converters cover dates and times, integer bases, Base64, JSON to YAML, TOML, XML, or CSV, Markdown to HTML, and a Docker run to Docker Compose converter. Web and network tools include a URL parser, JWT parser, user agent parser, HTTP status codes, IPv4 subnet calculator, and MAC address lookup. There are also generators for UUIDs, ULIDs, QR codes, Wi-Fi QR codes, and lorem ipsum, plus a regex tester, text diff, JSON diff, crontab generator, and chmod calculator.

The hosted version at it-tools.tech is free to use and needs no account. Because the project is open source, you can also run your own copy in a homelab. The README gives one-line Docker commands for images on Docker Hub and GitHub Packages, and lists Cloudron, Tipi, and Unraid as other ways to install it.

IT Tools was created by Corentin Thomasset and has many community contributors. It is built with Vue and TypeScript and is licensed under the GNU GPLv3. New tools are proposed and discussed through GitHub issues, and anyone can submit a feature request for a tool idea.

The main difference from ad-supported converter sites is the single, consistent interface with search, and the option to self-host the whole set.

Best for

Developers, sysadmins, and IT staff who often need quick conversions, generators, and parsers in the browser.

Not for

People who need a full IDE, API client, or scripting environment, or teams that need tools with accounts and shared history.
