What Micro.blog does
Micro.blog is a paid blog hosting service with a social timeline. You publish short posts, essays, photos, podcasts, or newsletters on your own domain, and it shares them with the fediverse, Bluesky, and other networks.
Micro.blog combines blog hosting with a community timeline. Each account gets a blog that can use your own domain name, and you can post short microblog updates, full-length essays, photos, podcasts, videos, standalone pages, and email newsletters. Drafts, scheduled posts, categories, themes, custom CSS, plug-ins, and full template editing are available, and advanced users can work with Hugo templates.
The social side is deliberately simple. The timeline shows posts from people you follow in chronological order, with no ads, no trending topics, no like counts, and no follower counts. Private bookmarks replace public likes, and the community has guidelines that are enforced. Human-curated discovery helps you find new people to follow.
Micro.blog is built for the open web and follows IndieWeb principles. It is part of the fediverse, so Mastodon users can follow your blog and their replies appear back on your blog, and your handle can use your own domain. It supports the AT Protocol directly, without a bridge, so it can post to Bluesky and bring replies back. Cross-posting also covers Threads, Tumblr, Nostr, LinkedIn, Medium, Pixelfed, and Flickr. Importers bring in posts from WordPress, Ghost, Tumblr, Medium, Substack, Mastodon, and others.
The standard plan costs $5 per month and includes blog hosting at your domain, cross-posting, notes, and the Inkwell feed reader. Premium at $10 per month adds up to 5 blogs, newsletters, and bookmark archiving. Family at $15 per month adds up to 5 people, and Studio at $20 per month adds longer video uploads and browser podcast recording.
Manton Reece founded Micro.blog in 2017 after a Kickstarter campaign with 3,000 backers. It works on the web and has native apps for iOS, Android, and macOS, plus Micropub, JSON, and ActivityPub APIs.
