What Mini Metro does

Mini Metro is a minimalist strategy game from Dinosaur Polo Club about drawing a subway map for a growing city. You connect stations, add trains and upgrades, and redraw lines to keep passengers moving.

Mini Metro is a strategy simulation game about designing a subway map. Each game starts with a few stations on a stylized map of a real city. You draw lines between them and trains start running. As the city grows, new stations appear and passengers pile up, so you keep redrawing lines and deciding where to use your limited resources to keep the city moving.

City growth is random, so every game is different. The game includes more than two dozen real-world cities, and updates have added maps such as Boston and Nanjing. A variety of upgrades lets you shape your network to your own strategy.

There are several ways to play. Normal mode gives quick scored games, Endless mode is for relaxed play, and Extreme mode is the hardest challenge. Creative mode lets you build a metro exactly how you want, and a Daily Challenge lets you compete against other players around the world. Colorblind and night modes are included.

The sound is part of the design. The soundtrack by Disasterpeace is generated by your metro system as it runs, so each game sounds different.

Mini Metro is made by Dinosaur Polo Club, a New Zealand studio that also makes Mini Motorways. On iPhone and iPad it is a one-time purchase of $3.99 in the US App Store. It is also sold on Google Play, Steam, Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and other stores, and a version called Mini Metro+ is included with Apple Arcade. Purchases cannot be moved between stores. The game has been nominated for a BAFTA and has won an IGF award.
