What Things 3 does
Things 3 is a personal task manager for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. You organize to-dos into projects and areas, then plan each day with the Today and Upcoming lists.
Things is a to-do list app from Cultured Code. The basic unit is a to-do, which can have notes, tags, a schedule, and a checklist of smaller steps. To-dos belong to projects, which have headings, notes, and deadlines, and projects sit inside areas such as Work, Family, or Finance. This structure keeps small tasks and long-term goals in one place.
Planning happens in the Today and Upcoming lists, which show your to-dos next to your calendar events. Each morning you review what you planned for today, and a separate This Evening section holds plans for later in the day. Repeating to-dos, reminders at a set time, tags for filtering, and Quick Find for jumping between lists support daily use.
Things integrates with Apple's platforms. You can create to-dos with Siri or the Share extension, import from Reminders, forward an email to Things with Mail to Things, add widgets, format notes with Markdown, and automate workflows with Shortcuts. The Apple Watch app shows your Today list and lets you complete or dictate to-dos, and sync keeps all devices up to date.
Cultured Code is based in Stuttgart, Germany, and Things has won two Apple Design Awards. The app has been around for more than a decade.
Things is sold as separate one-time purchases on the App Store, with no subscription. In the US store, the iPhone and Apple Watch version is $9.99, the iPad version is $19.99, and the Mac version is $49.99. There is also a version for Apple Vision Pro. There is no Android, Windows, or web version.
